Lajatico and the Theater of Silence
Lajatico, the village of Andrea Bocelli.
Does this name mean anything to you? Yes, Lajatico is the original village of the tenor Andrea Bocelli. Everything around here speaks of him, the posters hanging in the street, some locals selling products of the Bocelli Company, the big photos illustrating the charity actions carried out by the Andrea Bocelli Foundation (ABF) especially in Haiti, and then the Teatro del Teatro Silence.
Origins and structure of the Teatro del Silenzio
A magical place, created for lyrical singing shows, but show itself. It is located just outside Lajatico, nestled in the hills of the Valdera that at this moment give the best of themselves: an ocean of uninterrupted green.
The Theater of Silence was created in a kind of natural basin that lent itself well to accommodate a stage and steps for the public.
This space was inaugurated on July 27, 2006 and was created by the singer's will. All completely in the open air.
The stage, bordered by large blocks of granite, is in fact a pond: a mirror of water in which frogs sing, surmounted by a sculpture.
On the web there are many images with the mask of Igor Mitoraj, but currently the sculpture is a succulent and very red pepper.
The place is extremely suggestive and can be visited without having to pay a ticket.
